SOLAR ENERGY IN NIGERIA

The Nigerian experience of Solar Technology is very commendable on the part of Government Agencies who now include these Technology in their developmental projects, however, the average Nigerian has not yet come to terms with these new technology with its undeniable numerous benefits.

It is worthy to note that the shift on dependence on renewable energy in Nigeria is due to the failure of the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) now Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), to provide Nigerians their energy demands for their domestic and industrial consumption, and the lack of or scarcity of petroleum products such as petrol and diesel to power our monstrous generators.

Nevertheless, the average Nigerian is yet to come to terms with the workings of this new technology = SOLAR ENERGY. Some of the benefits include;
* It saves you money!
After the initial purchase, there is no running cost. Sunlight is the fuel it needs and sunlight is free, abundant and inexhaustible.
* It is completely quiet. No noise! No fumes! No pollution!
This makes this technology eco-frendly, especially in this modern era of going GREEN where the world is faced with a new threat of Global warming.
* It gives you real energy independence. You become your own Power company by generating your own power,setting yourself free from power failure.
* It is virtually maintenance-free. This is because it has no moving parts and therefore no wear and tear.
* It saves you from falling your fence. This is what you get from Diesel generators due to their high level of vibration, etc

Yet, with all this benefits, Nigerians are yet to fully embrace this wonderful, self liberating technology. What do you think about Solar Technology and the Nigerian experience? Let us share!
